매년 10% 이상의 고속 성장을 계속하고 있는 국내 게임시장의 규모가 소비자 매출 기준으로 오는 2005년 5조원을 돌파할 전망입니다.
Korea's game market is expected to be worth 5 trillion won ($4.2 billion) in 2005, if the current bullish trend continues, government data showed yesterday.
In a white paper released by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Korea Game Development Institute, the domestic game market grew 13 percent to 3.4 trillion won in value last year and is expected to break the 4 trillion won mark this year.
The market is forecast to jack up its value to 4.5 trillion won in 2004 and 5.2 trillion won in 2005, the white paper said.

지난 5월 미국 소매시장에서 노트북PC 판매 실적이 데스크탑 판매실적을 사상 최초로 능가한 것으로 조사됐다고 NPD그룹이 밝혔습니다.
Notebook computer sales surpassed sales of desktop computers for the first time in May thanks to an increasing desire for mobility, according to a survey by market research firm NPD Group.
Notebooks accounted for more than 54 percent of the nearly $500 million in retail computer sales in May, the Port Washington, New York, concern said Wednesday. That compares with January 2000, when laptops represented less than 25 percent of sales volume.
But laptops weren't the only product to outperform its predecessor. NPD found that May was also the first time liquid crystal displays or LCD monitor unit sales volume surpassed cathode ray tubes from a 22% market share to more than double that at 52%.
