With the objective of developing exceptional students into exceptional professionals, the Professional Associate Program offers comprehensive and accelerated training designed to build the technical knowledge and skills you will need for a rewarding and challenging career with the AIG Companies. As a Professional Associate, you will experience a combination of self-study, classroom, and on-the-job assignments that will quickly develop your professional knowledge. In fact, many of the AIG Companies' top managers began their careers as Professional Associates.
AIU Professional Associate (PA) Training Program
The PA program applies to candidates who are recent University graduates to 2 years non-underwriting insurance or business experience. The PA Program is a comprehensive 12-month underwriting training program. The program is a combination of self-study, classroom and on-the- job training, with the majority of time being on the job training.
The training will focus on the PA¡¯s learning how to analyze risk and exposures, understand insurance contracts, and develop client proposals. Case studies will be utilized throughout the training program to facilitate the learning of core topics.
The training will incorporate and allow for interaction with professionals from all levels of the organization.
To qualify for the position, the candidates will have to have the following qualifications:
- University graduate with a degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Risk Management or other appropriate field preferable.
- Solid English skills are essential.
- The candidate should have a strong school record.
- Industry related summer internship or work experience a plus
At the conclusion of the program, participants will be able to successfully:
* Perform the responsibilities of an entry-level underwriter.
* Understand the importance of and demonstrate competency in risk and financial analysis, file documentation, and account pricing.
* Support profit center¡¯s business initiatives and strategies.
* Recognize the impact of underwriting decisions on the claims divisions.
* Work with the claims division and internal service organizations to meet our customer's needs.
* Develop and demonstrate presentation, selling, and negotiation skills
* Underwrite and process new and renewal accounts.
